Open Hands featuring
The Chuck Findley Horns
God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen

Open Hands is an instrumental jazz quartet that combines native South American rhythms, American jazz, along with rhythm and blues to create a very unique and sophisticated sound. Each of these brilliantly talented studio musicians are all producers and arrangers in their own right. Open Hands is made up of Justo Almario (woodwinds), Greg Mathieson (keyboards), Bill Maxwell (drums), and Abraham Laboriel who Guitar Player Magazine described as "the most widely used session bassist of our time.” Abe, Bill, and Justo were members of the jazz-funk-fusion group Koinonia, that was a huge sensation in Scandinavia and Western Europe in the 80s and 90s.

Their music conveys the deep spiritual commitment they all share. In a recent interview, they were quoted as saying, “The music doesn't come out of our hands. It comes out of our hearts. Our hands are just open to make the music that's in our hearts." We think you'll feel this on their incredible version of “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen”. On this Christmas recording, Open Hands is joined by the Chuck Findley Horns with a powerhouse arrangement by Greg Mathieson. Open hands wants you to know that the greatest gift they were ever given is symbolized by Christmas, and it's with that heart that they give this song to you.
